David is an associate of the Firm where he has practiced law since 2009. His practice is focused in health care law (including licensure issues, credentialing issues, and medical malpractice defense), products liability, and appellate advocacy.
He attended West Liberty State College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pre-Law in 1995. David continued his education at Methodist Theological School in Ohio, where he earned a Masters of Divinity Degree in 1999. David served as a United Methodist Pastor, for various churches throughout Ohio and West Virginia for fifteen years. Although David is still an ordained elder in the West Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church, his passion for the law led him to the West Virginia University College of Law, where he earned a Juris Doctorate Degree in 2009.
While in law school, David was an active member of the Moot Court Board, where he won the 2008 Baker Cup Competition, was a member of the National Team, and served as the Associate Chief Justice. He was selected to be a National Member of the Order of the Barristers. David served on student government and was the President of the Ethics Council for the College of Law. He also received the CALI award in Civil Rights.
David was admitted to the West Virginia State Bar in October of 2009. He is also admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.
He is currently an active member of the West Virginia State Bar, the Cabell County Bar Association, the American Bar Association (ABA), Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia (DTCWV), and the Defense Research Institute (DRI).
David has been published twice in the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia Notebook of Articles. He first appeared as a co-author with Michael J. Farrell for the May 2010 article “Product Liability: The Emergence of the Sophisticated Purchaser and Bulk Supplier Defenses.” His most recent article, "Justice Ketchum: A Practical Approach to Law" appeared in the May 2011 publication. The article reviews and analyzes Justice Ketchum’s dissents since he was elected as a Justice and draws conclusions as to the ramifications of his approach to law for appellate practice in West Virginia.
David is available to accept litigation assignments in West Virginia.
