Bernard Vallejos presented "Social Media and the Law Office" at a seminar sponsored by Lorman Education Services. [01/20/2012]
Bernard Vallejos recently spoke on the subject of “Social Media and the Law Office," a compelling and relevant issue for today's professional workplace. The discussion included the implications of social media on the practice of law, how it benefits attorneys, ethical and legal considerations, and recent case law involving privacy, attorney-client and attorney work product issues. The seminar was held at the Holiday Inn Express in Charleston, WV and was sponsored by Lorman Education Services.

Defense Verdict, Circuit Court of Cabell County [11/22/2011]
Michael J. Farrell, Tamela J. White and Allison Carroll Anderson successfully defended a nurse midwife and gynecologist in a three week medical malpractice trial in the Circuit Court of Cabell County, Huntington, West Virginia. The jury returned the verdict in 75 minutes on November 15, 2011, fully exonerating both clients.

On September 16, 2011, Joe Farrell, Jr., Chip Capehart and Bernard Vallejos spoke at the 2011 Deposition Boot Camp hosted by the WV Defense Trial Counsel in Charleston, WV. Their respective topics were "Taking the Plaintiff Deposition;" "Deposition War Stories (Discussion Panel);" and "Basic Deposition Procedural Requirements and Preparation: Objections."

"Justice Ketchum: A Practical Approach to Law" reviews and analyzes Justice Ketchum’s dissents since he was elected as a Justice and draws conclusions as to the ramifications of his approach to law for appellate practice in West Virginia.

Four Partners Recognized by Super Lawyers. [06/29/2011]

Erik Legg recognized as emerging leader in West Virginia [02/11/2011]

Tamela J. White and David Stackpole received a defense verdict in a medical negligence action [09/24/2010]
Tamela J. White and David Stackpole of Farrell, Farrell & Farrell, PLLC, received a defense verdict in the trial of a medical negligence case in the Circuit Court of Cabell County, West Virginia presided over by The Honorable Jane Hustead. The claim alleged negligent performance of percutaneous angiography and stent placement. The decedent experienced a perforation of the left anterior descending artery during stent placement for occlusive disease. A unanimous verdict, in favor of the defendants on standard of care was rendered.

Erik Legg Inducted to International Association of Defense Counsel [06/25/2010]
Erik W. Legg was inducted as a Member to the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC). The IADC is an invitation-only professional association for corporate and insurance defense lawyers around the world since 1920. Its activities benefit the approximately 2,500 invitation-only, peer-reviewed members and their clients as well as the civil justice system and the legal profession. IADC members are dedicated to the highest standards of professionalism and service and upholding the rule of law and integrity of the court system. Erik is a member of the complex litigation team with primary responsibility for pharmaceutical and medical products liability, medical professional malpractice, workplace exposure and injury litigation, and employment discrimination and wrongful discharge claims. In that capacity, he has managed more than one hundred drug product liability cases.

Michael J. Farrell and David A. Stackpole co-authored an article entitled "Product Liability- The Emergence of the Sophisticated Purchaser and Bulk Supplier Defenses"for Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia. The article outlines two different defenses (Sophisticated Purchaser Defense and Bulk Supplier Defense) to failure to warn claims in products liability actions and how the two defenses can be used together as demonstrated by the recent decision by the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia in Roney v. Gencorp, 654 F. Supp. 2d 501 (S.D. W. Va. 2009).

The Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia published an article co-authored by Charlotte Hoffman Norris for the 2009-2010 Employment Law Update. The articles provided a review of Federal and West Virginia cases from March 2009 to March 2010 pertaining to Employment and Labor law.
