State Courts

West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals -
The Supreme Court of Appeals is West Virginia?s highest court and the court of last resort and final interpretation of West Virginia law.

Kentucky Supreme Court -
The Kentucky Supreme Court is the court of last resort and the final interpreter of state law. It hears appeals of decisions from the lower state courts.

Supreme Court of Ohio -
The Supreme Court is the court of last resort in Ohio. Most of its cases are appeals from the twelve district courts of appeals.


Federal Courts

US Supreme Court -
The Supreme Court is the highest tribunal in the nation for all cases and controversies arising under the Constitution or the laws of the United States. The Court stands as the final arbiter of the law and guardian of constitutional liberties.

US Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit -
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit reviews appeals from the federal district courts in Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia, and from the U.S. Tax Court and certain federal administrative agencies where the non-governmental parties are from the states that make up the Fourth Circuit.

US Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit -
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit reviews appeals from the federal district courts in Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee, and from the U.S. Tax Court and certain federal administrative agencies where the non-governmental parties are from the states that make up the Sixth Circuit.

American Bar Association -
With more than 400,000 members, the ABA provides law school accreditation, continuing legal education, information about the law, programs to assist lawyers and judges in their work, and initiatives to improve the legal system for the public.

DRI - The Voice of the Defense Bar -
The Defense Research Institute (DRI) is a national and international association of lawyers and others concerned with the defense of civil actions. DRI provides professional information to its members through educational seminars, publications, and other services.

International Association of Defense Counsel -
The International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) is the oldest and most prestigious international organization of attorneys representing corporations and insurers. Its activities benefit not only the approximately 2400 invitation-only, peer-reviewed members and their clients through networking, education, and professional opportunities, but also the civil justice system and the legal profession as a whole.

Kentucky Bar Association -
The Kentucky Bar Association is an independent agency responsible for regulating the legal profession in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Ohio State Bar Association -
The Ohio State Bar Association, founded in 1880, is a voluntary professional association open to any person who has been admitted to the practice of law in the Buckeye State.

West Virginia State Bar -
The West Virginia State Bar is the organization of all lawyers licensed to practice law in West Virginia and exists to serve members, the legal profession and the public.

The largest catalogued collection of publicized media in the world, the US Library of Congress (LOC) spans a broad range of formats, subjects and eras, encompassing well over 118 million items and over 500 miles of shelving, according to Guinness World Records. Some full publications are available on line from the LOC.

The Best Lawyers in America -
In its 2006 edition, The Best Lawyers in America again accorded Michael J. Farrell dual recognition in both the Business Litigation and Defense of Personal Injury categories for the State of West Virginia. Published biennially since 1983, The Best Lawyers in America is widely regarded as the preeminent referral guide to the legal profession in the United States.
